Her mother always told her stories about the forest and life as a warrior. One day, she meets Eclipse, but they both get seriously ill. After Eclipse dies, Hazel realizes she is pregnant, but she also knows once she will have given birth she will die of weakness. She decides to go to the forest so her kit can live as part of a clan. A patrol finds her in their territory, but as soon as they see she is giving birth, they bring her in their camp. Hazel's last wish is that her daughter would be called Moon. Moonkit grows up in this clan and becomes a strong warrior, Moonlight.
