“Pinepaw, sweetie, I need you to stay in camp.” Cocoaleap’s voice echoed in Pinepaw’s ears. He looked earnestly at his mother. “Please, I can help you fight. I want to help. I’ve been an apprentice for one moon already. Don’t make me have to stay in camp.” He pleaded. Cocoaleap’s gaze sharpened. “Pinepaw this isn’t a game. Stay here.” Rushstar’s yowl echoed throughout Wishclan camp and Cocoaleap’s head snapped to look at their leader. “I have to go.” She mewed at last, turning and running after the charge of cats headed for Dreamclan. Pinepaw sighed. The war had been slowly building up for moons, and he hadn’t got to be a part of any of it. The tom’s tail lashed. Rebellion flowed through him. He turned and sprinted out of camp. Pinepaw ran and ran, through the forest until he didn’t even know where he was. And then he crashed into someone. A beautiful, fluffy, golden someone. Her blue eyes stared into his, full of fear. And he couldn’t help but feel a rush of fear as well. Because this cat was Dreamclan. The clan he had been taught to hate. But the fear washed away quickly as he looked at her. Her eyes glistened with tears. /Great Starclan/ Pinepaw thought, /She’s terrified of me/. He turned and ran, unable to look into those blue eyes and see such fear. Fear of him. Pinepaw bowed his head, vowing never to let such fear show in himself.
