Click on the island to change it. Use the buttons to create stuff you want on the island. Watering can is used to make trees slightly bigger. Sun/Moon toggle changes the day into night and vice versa. If you see a box that says preview, use the arrow keys to pick out the type of item you want on the island. Music button plays or stops the music.
