Her friends, Tourmaline, Ajoite, Variscite, and Smoky Quartz shared similar expressions. ``Could it be? Is it really her?`` Spinny pondered, peering at the draconic beast. ``There's no gem like her. The facial gem, the flowers weaved around her.``, Tourmaline replied. Eyes brimming with tears, Spinny recalled a day unlike any other... A bittersweet day... A temple, old and withered surrounded Spinel. Yet, it was home to a rebellion she'd no idea about. ``Sapphire won't ever find me here!``, she cried. Setting herself down near a pile of rocks, she checked the warp pad to see if her Sapphire had come for her. ``Excuse me, what are you doing here?`` Turning her head, Spinny gazed at a Lapis, a lance in her azure hands. ``I'm waiting for my Sapphire!`` ``Hm? Well, she must be very important to you, dear Spinel..`` The Lapis pondered for a moment, then barked into the shadows. ``Team? We're calling our mission off until later! We're not letting any gems get injured!`` She then turned to Spinel and nodded. (Lapis' perspective) A while since her encounter with Spinel, she heard sobbing nearby the warp pad. Turning the corner, Lapis saw Spinel, crying. ``Spinel? What's wrong?`` ``My Sapphire never came back.``, Spinel sniffed. ``Poor thing. Come, my team and I will comfort you..`` That was the beginning of something strange to Spinny. As she soon became a member of the rebellion, her bond with Lapis blossomed. But staring at that monstrous creature that was once her gem, her heart was shattered. She made a promise to herself. A promise to find Lapis on Earth, where she'd ran away in anger. Under her breath, she muttered. ``I'm sorry.`` (END)
