Press space. ------------------------------------------------------------------------- NOTE: I'm back again! (I might be gone for a day or two, later, though....) ------------------------------------------------------------------------- If you're observant, you may have seen the character featured in this project floating around. So. This is Shoop! Who is Shoop exactly? Well, Shoop is my oldest character. He originated in my math notebook 4 or 5 years ago because math confused me then, so I doodled all over my work. (I mean, I still doodle all over my work, but now it's because I get it done quickly and have time to.) I couldn't remember exactly what sheep looked like when I was drawing him, hence... this. I began putting him all over my math and science papers, and I drew similarly strange friends for him, including Mouse and Crane (I no longer like their designs, though, so I draw them less often). I tried to make a short graphic novel for kids wherein Shoop and his friends would try to track down a small frog, but I never finished coloring and arranging it. About two years ago, I started throwing Shoop into much more than just math notebooks. I incorporated him into most of my creative works as a cameo or at least part of the extended universe of the work. See if you can spot him on Scratch; I think I've mentioned him here thrice. Earlier this year, I finally gave Shoop a backstory. Here goes: The Greek philosopher Plato proposed that there exist two worlds: the physical realm, and the realm of forms. The physical realm is the one we can observe with our senses; it has many version of things like trees, friendships, and triangles, and it is ever-changing. The realm of forms, on the other hand, is immutable. In it, there exists one and only one version of each thing we have in the physical world, and they are each the perfect version of the many things like them in the real world. In the realm of forms, there is a perfect tree, a perfect friendship, and a perfect triangle. Shoop is the perfect sheep. However, while most things in the realm of forms are not able to be truly held onto by human souls when they come to inhabit a body, some people can remember Shoop and facilitate his movement into other imaginary realms via waves of music, light, math, and physics. Thus, he can exist in many universes, but he most likes to inhabit the world of imperfect, physical mathematics. Okay, that's Shoop. Bye. = ❤ ------------------------------------------------------------------------- COMIC TRANSCRIPT: [Shoop the Interdimensional Being of Math] Shoop: You didn't draw those diagrams very well... Shoop: Like, what the heck is this supposed to be? Me: There, I labeled it. Are you happy now? Shoop: No. Shoop: This is not a mountain! Me: Look, it's utilitarian! I didn't want to put my artistic effort into a math paper! Shoop: Then why did you draw ME all over it? Me: *HGNNNNGG HE FOUND ME OUT* ------------------------------------------------------------------------- CREDITS: All art + design: Me, Music: Cobweb Morning by Kai Engle under a Creative Commons 4.0 Attribution License. https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/
