UPDATE: Due date is now end of February, please and thank you. NEWER UPDATE: Closed to new entries. You have one week to get your entries in. EVEN NEWER UPDATE: Very, entirely closed. I'll be judging ASAP! Thanks to every single one of my followers for getting me to 100! I remember when I was excited to get 20. Because the human brain can only be acquainted with 200 people at once, there's no WAY I can have a personal relationship with all of you, but I'm honored none the less. That being said, to celebrate, I made these kinkajou adopts! What are kinkajous, you ask? You may know a certain dragon by their name, but the real kinkajous are small, nocturnal mammals that live in the Amazon rainforest, and they're ADORABLE! ~~~~~~~~~~~~KINKAJOU FUN FACTS~~~~~~~~~~~ - Kinkajous are also known as honey bears because they like to slurp honey out of beehives with their long tongues. They also eat nectar, lots of fruits, and insects like termites. - Kinkajous are one of the few animals that aren't primates to have a prehensile tail. "Prehensile" means they can use it to hold onto things. It can even support their entire body weight, letting them hang upside down by it! - These animals live in the Amazon rainforest and the isthmus of Panama. They are at home among the trees. - Kinkajous are nocturnal, which means they are awake at night. - While kinkajous might seem like they would make adorable pets, it's not a good idea to own one. They are not domesticated animals. Domesticated animals keep juvenile traits like larger eyes, smaller teeth, and more docile behavior as they grown up, which is known as 'neoteny', but kinkajous do not. This makes them much more likely to bite or claw a pet owner than dogs or cats. When they do attack, their bite can carry a fungal disease called Blastomyces dermatitidis. This causes quite a nasty infection. Do not look into getting a kinkajou as a pet.
Objects in boxes are not to scale. 1. Soft and Precious 2. Pikajou 3. Cosmic Coffee 4. Possessed Carving 5. Calypso 1's name is an extremely obscure reference, and I will give a follow and an Internet point to anyone who can figure out what it's from. 3's cup says "Coffee is the universal stimulant." 4's spots and cracks are very complicated, so feel free to simply them if you need to. 5's butterfly companion is to scale. It is the species Siproeta stelenes, more commonly known as a malachite butterfly. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~RULES~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ - Use your own work. - Give PROPER credit for the design, any music used, and anyone whose art you referenced. - If I did not clarify a part of the design, it's up to you. (It's probably symmetrical, though.) - Do not ask to enter, just remix. You will know I am aware of your entry when I add it to the studio. - If it has been 24 hours since you posted your entry and I have yet to add it to the studio, send me a message. If you made a meme and remixed another project, send me a message. Otherwise, do NOT message me with your entry. - You may alter the design slightly, and you may make it anthropomorphic (which fits well with kinkajous; they basically already have hand-paws), but you MAY NOT change the species. The species is the entire point. - No, you may not draw on the base for an entry; that's for people making their OWN characters. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~HOW I JUDGE~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ I'm going to try to be objective with this DTA. There will be three categories that I will judge on, and you will be able to earn up to fifteen points in each. The categories are: Story Art Effort Points for Story will be awarded based on how interesting the backstory and bio of the OC is. More creative ideas and better writing and grammar will earn more points. Points for Art will be given based on the way the character is drawn or animated. More polished pieces with an understanding of anatomy, character design, and how to stylize will earn more points. Points for Effort will be granted based on the time and effort spent on the project. Try to give me an honest self-assessment of how long the entry took; if I think your report is fishy, I'll take it up with you. I am going to be pretty stingy with the points, because I don't want multiple people to max out the scale. A seven or an eight is NOT a bad score! Scores higher than ten will only given to those who I feel entirely blow me away, and a fifteen is a near-perfect entry. BONUS POINTS will be given to anyone who: - Creates an original meme or originally coded Scratch meme based on an existing one (up to +5) - Animates the entry, especially if it portrays the personality of the character (up to +5) - Finds three facts about kinkajous not listed in the fun facts section (+3, with an additional +1 for every additional fact up to +10) - Will actually use the character (up to +5) Total points possible: 70 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~TIPS~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ - Use a dynamic pose to show off the personality you are giving your character. - Reference real kinkajou anatomy to better develop drawing these animals in your style. - Write a bio that doesn't simply list likes and dislikes ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~CREDITS~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ART: All designs and art by MUSIC: Moonglow, Sienne, and Tiny Spoons by Podington Bear under a Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial 3.0 Unported License.
