Prologue The deafening roar of a dragon could already be heard even though it was out of sight. The king hurried around setting up the military. It was the second time the dragon had attacked them. last time great damage had been left, most of it recently fixed. Soon people could be heard shouting, “it's here” or, “it has come”. The king readied his sword, the archers drew back their bows, the army either readied their spears or unsheathed their swords. A young girl, the princess, took out her dagger she held it high aiming it at the sky were the dragon was. Many people gasped when it neared, it was twice as big as last time, and it wasn't alone, it had a whole army with him. The king stared in wonder and shock, so the princess spoke up, “we ask for not war” she shouted when they reached the gate, “we ask to be left alone, though we have gathered our forces and will fight to protect what is rightfully ours”. Her friend Thistle appeared beside her, the king regained himself and said, “we have no fear of you, leave now and you will go unscathed, attack and you will fall like last time”. The dragon laughed and the people shifted uneasily he turned to the girls, “well well, who have we here? You certainly weren't here last time”. His causal talk was starting to fill the people with unease. He continued, “well anyway, I suppose we have to get on to war now, strike them down, you go down, let them through, you go unscathed”, he flicked his tail and a few men began to climb the walls. Without hesitation Meridith threw her daggers and the men fell to the ground she shrugged and said statistically, “sorry im not allowed to make deals with giant dragons” she smirked. The dragon flicked his tail and his army advanced, “very well” he shot into the sky and spiraled down towards the kingdom, “this is for last time” he flew towards the king. Then everything went black. Chapter 1 the icy wind seeped through her cloak she pulled it tighter and said to her friend Thistle , “why again did I choose winter? Its been five year, why did I not choose summer?”. Thistle sighed, “how would I know? I argued with you but you used the 'im the princess so we have to do what I say' argument” Meridith sighed, “why did you listen to me?” “so you wouldn't light my tent on fire like last time...” “that was two years ago!” “so?”. Meridith tried to think of an answer while Thistle studied the map, “if the weather stays like this we should be there before sundown”, “that’s good” Meridith said. The walked on. Chapter 2 Meridith knelt before the king and glanced sideways and saw Thistle doing the same she then said, “we seek an alliance in a war with our enemy Viron, he has driven us out of our kingdom and we seek to win it back, my father was killed in the battle” as she spoke she had flashbacks of the battle white: a dragon flew towards her father she started over to late:white, normal world, white:her father lifted his shield as fire raced towards him, white: normal world, white, she cried out and the dragon turned on her, white normal world, white: she felt herself being thrown in the wall side bleeding, white, normal world the flashbacks ended. She glanced up then the king said, “we will do what we can, but cannot risk all of my men, if it were any other enemy I would, but for Viron, I cannot leave my kingdom unguarded, sleep here, you can make the journey back in the morning” Meridith and Thistle nodded and guards escorted them to their rooms. Chapter 3 “well at least it's sunny today” Thistle said cheerfully. Meridith said, “yeah but all the snow melted and now it's muddy”. Thistle sighed, “why are you ALWAYS the negative one?”. Meridith said, “im not im just the logic one”. Thistle smirked, “oh sure leaping at a dragon who just killed someone with a hunting knife, most certainly logic”. Meridith glared at her. They reached the start of the forest by noon Meridith said, “well, muddy does have better timing then a bThistle zard” Thistle looked at her, “are you trying to be sarcastic?”. Meridith looked back at her, “lets drop the arguing and keep going we should stop for lunch soon”, without waiting for an answer Meridith turned and walked off. Thistle sighed and walked after her. About an hour past noon Meridith stopped and dug around in her backpack Thistle noticed and said, “hey, you really should use the pockets to help organize, it would be easier to find things” Meridith looked up, “no way! Organizing is for beginners”. Thistle sighed, “this is the first time you ever packed that thing, does that not qualify as a beginner?” Meridith suddenly pulled a bag out of her pack, “found it! I told you I don't need organizing” she handed some food to Thistle then ate some then stuffed what was left back into the pack, they ate then Meridith suddenly stood Thistle barely said “what” before a faint howl arose. They had a conversation in their minds:'we must go to camp' Thistle thought 'no if we lead the pack there we could
