The story: It was a cold, dark night. The moon was full and everything was eerily still until a howling rose from the darkness growing louder to a earsplitting pitch, then softer until it was gone again. All was silent, all was still, but the family of cats who were huddled together under some rocks that they called home knew their troubles were only just beginning. A voice from very close snarled, "I know you're there kitties, come out and play!" Suddenly, the silhouette of a big, muscular wolf was right outside the cats' front entrance. "Looks like I found you... Say your last words!" "Raven run!!! I'll hold them off!!!" screamed a handsome black and grey cat. "No! I won't leave you!" cried Raven. "Raven..." the cat gazed fondly at his son before charging at the wolf and latching himself onto the wolf. The wolf made a horrible sound and started trying to get at the cat. "Quickly my son we must go!" said a female cream colored cat. "Mother no! No! NO!" wailed Raven as his mom picked him up in her jaws and escaped through a small gap in the back of the cave. A wailing was heard rising through the frosty air, then abruptly it stopped. Without a backwards glance the mother cat quickly streaked across the ground, leaping over streams and bounding through bramble. After traveling for quiet some time, she clasped panting. "M-mother?" Raven asked in a timid little voice. He circled up next to her and the two fell asleep in the freezing cold, that dark night. Raven opened his eyes and looked around in confusion. "Where am I?" he questioned. "You are in the place of the dead," a voice meowed behind him. Whipping around he turned to face this cat. "Who are you? What do you mean? I'm not dead am I?" he instantly babbled. "I don't have much time," the strange cat started, "You have been chosen, chosen to defeat an evil like none other known to Earth." "W-what? How could I do that?" he asked puzzled, "I am just a mortal cat..." "You have been gifted the powers of strength, light, and flight. Learn your powers from an old cat who lives up on Mt. Paws, then use them to defeat the rising evil." The cat begun to fade away. "Wait! I don't understand! I have more questions!" cried Raven. Suddenly, he woke up with a start. A voice inside his head whispered, "Trust yourself Raven. I know you can do it." Sighing, Raven fell into a deep sleep. (to be continued?)
