The story: The next morning Raven woke up to find that there was frost on the ground. Getting up with a shiver, he stretched and let out a long yawn. Looking around, he cocked his head in confusion. 'Why were he and his mom out in the forest and not in their den? Also, where is dad?' he thought to himself. Then, the past night's events hit him like a ton of stone bricks. He gasped in horror as he remembered everything. The evil wolf, his father sacrificing himself, and the spirit cat had all actually happened just last night. "Mom!!! Wake up!!!" he meowed in her ear. He waited for her to wake and comfort him, but she didn't move a muscle. "M-mom?" he asked poking her with an experimental paw. "Mom?" "She is very weak young one," strange voice said from somewhere nearby, "The freezing cold of the night nearly killed her." "Who are you?" he stammered. "My name is Storm," replied a strange dark gray cat, "I had a dream that are lives would cross. You have a journey you must complete to stop a rising evil?" "Y-yes, I guess I do." "Let me watch and take care of your mother while you go complete your mission." "How do I know I can trust you?" he asked narrowing his eyes. "For starters I brought you prey," he said gesturing at some prey nearby, "And what other choice do you have? You must complete your mission if you are to save Earth." "Fine.... I guess you have a point." "Good choice," Storm meowed with a slight smile. "Where is Mt. Paws?" Raven asked suddenly. "It is about 2 miles to the North," he replied, "Before you leave, eat some prey. You will need to keep your energy up." Nodding, Raven ate a rabbit and drank some water from a nearby pool of crystal clear water. Then, he gently licked his mother's fur and whispered, "I'll be back soon mom. I love you." "Are you ready?" Storm asked. Taking a deep breath, he nodded. "Goodbye young one, and good luck!" he called as Raven began padding North to Mt. Paws and the unknown of the forest. (to be continued?)
