One Moon after Silverdust’s ceremony... __________________________________________________ It was a pleasant leaf-bare morning. The snow coated the ground, reflecting the sunlight. Silverdust blinked open her eyes, stretching. In the past moon, Coalpaw, Adderpaw and Juniperpaw had moved into the warriors den, receiving the names Juniperwhisker, Coalfang and Adderblaze. Lavenderpaw had went to receive her full medicine cat name with Icefur, and would be back any time now. “I see you’re awake.” A mischievous whisper startled Silverdust, and she spun around to see Mintflame. She grinned at her friend. “Hey, Mint! Wanna go see if Oaksnap will send us on a patrol?” She asked. The deputy had been growing confidence, with Silverdust’s help. Now, he rarely stuttered. “Sure!” Mintflame chirped loudly, waking up Adderblaze. “I’ll come with you guys.” He yawned, stepping over Vinethistle. The trio padded out. Oaksnap was sitting on a rock, flicking his tail. He looked happy to see Silverdust. “Silverdust! Just the cat I wanted to talk to.” He greeted. “Hey, Oaksnap. Can Mintflame, Adderblaze, and I go on a patrol?” She asked. Oaksnap blinked slowly, then nodded. “Yeah, go ahead, I guess. Can you come to me when you come back?” Silverdust nodded. “Let’s go, guys!” The three warriors padded off, exiting camp. * * * “That was a good patrol. No signs of Bloomwhisker anywhere!” Mintflame purred. Silverdust and Adderblaze purred with amusement. Silverdust saw Lavenderpaw, sitting with a large smile on her face, and padded forwards, accidentally brushing against Adderblaze. “Oh, sorry.” She apologized, turning her head. “It’s fine, Silverdust!” He said cheerfully. “I’ll see you later. Vinethistle is probably looking for me!” He bounded off. Silverdust then padded over to Lavenderpaw. “So, how’d it go?” She purred. Lavenderpaw’s eyes flashed with fear for a second, before answering with a smile. “It was great! And I’m Lavenderberry now!” She announced. Silverdust purred. “That’s great!” She chuckled, but turned her head as Oaksnap appeared on the highledge. “Er...” He stopped. Silverdust met his gaze and he continued with more confidence. “All cats gather around for a clan meeting!” The clan gathered slowly. Did Ravenstar die, or something. “I-If you’re wondering why I’m calling a meeting, it’s because Ravenstar has caught redcough..so because none of us want to get sick, please don’t enter her den.” He paused. “On a happier note..Willowkit and Raccoonkit, step forwards..” He looked over. Willowkit ran out, followed cautiously by Raccoonkit. “Willowkit, until you become a warrior, you will be called Willowpaw. Silverdust will be your mentor.” Confused murmurs broke out, but Silverdust stepped forwards, touching noses with her sister. “Raccoonkit, until you become a warrior, you will be called Raccoonkit-“ Oaksnap’s eyes searched around, then blinked. “I will be your mentor. Meeting over.” He jumped off of his rock. “Yay! I’m so happy I got the bestwarrioreverasmymentorandshesmysistereeeee!!” Willowpaw cheered. Raccoonpaw huffed. “I’m excited too. I got the deputy as a mentor.” He said, pleased. Oaksnap padded over. “So, uh, Silverdust. I was wondering, would you like to come with me to give the apprentices a tour?” He asked. Out of the corner of her eye, she saw Adderblaze watching her anxiously. Maybe she should talk to Adderblaze, but she had to train her apprentice..
