Plant a Seed in each pot to grow a pea plant. (drag it there) Click on each plant to make them flower. These two plants will be cross pollinated (not shown). Click on both flowering plants to see the pea pods. Click again to start counting peas (there are more than it appears) Save peas to use as seeds by dragging them to the little green dots. You can plant any seed you want to. Click the "Reset" button in between experiments to reset your counts and clear extra peas.
(self remix: see https://scratch.mit.edu/projects/43261172/ for a simpler version) Note: Two of the traits are linked (on the same chromosome). Can you map the linkage without peeking inside? By changing the Recombination Frequency Slider (click "show links" to get it), you can alter the distance between the linked genes on the chromosome. At 50, they should behave as if they were on their own chromosomes (only by comparing with a 3rd gene in between those two genes on the same chromosome could you prove they were linked). At 0, they are functionally the same gene (never swap positions during the pairing of homologous chromosomes in Meiosis 1). To verify the recombination frequency you set by collecting data and calculating manually, make a hybrid, then cross the hybrid with the wrinkled green white flower pea (test cross)
