Yes. Am I entering a holiday DTA anyway? Absolutely yes - xFlameFuryx did an amazing job with them and it saddens me that I only had the time to enter for one. The best part of the holidays, in my opinion at least, is seeing all the different ways that people celebrate them, and a holiday DTA is always good in my book! ♢ (I'm just hoping I drew the character correctly... I don't often draw goatlike creatures so the anatomy is kind of strange imo, and I wasn't sure how to colour the eyes... Nonetheless I'm quite proud of how this turned out in the end!!) »— bio —« ♢ name; Höllenfeuer ("hellfire" in German), aka Holly. ♢ gender/pronouns; Demiboy, he/they. ♢ species; Krampi, a descendant of Krampus. ♢ personality; Like most Krampi, Holly is confident, bold, and believes very strongly in justice. However, while many Krampi are arrogant and believe their perception of justice rules above all, Holly is reserved and prefers to quietly push people in the right direction without conflict. He isn't afraid to stand up for what he believes in, and he is by no means timid, but he was raised with the values of equality and understanding others' sides of arguments, which many Krampi were not. ♢ likes; Hot cocoa, playing outside in the snow, reading, singing/songwriting and poetry (he used to write Krampi versions of "classic" Reindeer songs for the children in his village), his friends & family. ♢ dislikes; Strangers (he has pretty devastating trust issues), matches/candles/fires/etc (the reason he goes by Holly and not his full name), tight/enclosed spaces (he's claustrophobic and will panic if he's stuck somewhere with no clear route of escape). ♢ aesthetic; Pink/green/white, snow and evergreen trees, anything wintery. ♢ backstory; It had been many years now since the start of the wars in Winterland. They had begun long ago in the heart of the region, at what was now the border of the Reindeer and Krampi territories, when a falling-out between Krampus and Saint Nick caused tensions between the two races to escalate from a rivalry to a revolution. Holly's parents had both served in the awful battles, his mother as a magic healer and his father as a front-lines warrior, and when they settled down together they took it upon themselves to settle far, far away from the furiously raging warfare. The quaint little town of Snowdrift, a remote mountain village far from the Reindeer-Krampi border, had never seen the brutality of war, and it was there that little Holly was born and raised. His family was never very rich, but they were well-respected for their business; his mother continued to work as a healer, studying magic on the side, while his father became a baker, leaving his life on the battlefield behind completely. Holly grew up helping both his parents with errands or other tasks around town, and all-in-all fit in perfectly with the town's quiet, comfortable lifestyle. He was barely old enough to pursue a career of his own when the raid happened. The residents of Snowdrift thought that distance meant safety but evidently not, as one snowy December night, the peace in their village came to an end. The Reindeers struck on Krampusnacht, the night when Krampi all over Winterland celebrated their leader and hero. It was an unofficial raid, a small group of ne'er-do-wells seeking to prove a point, but they attacked with everything they had. Somewhere along the line, a display of candles was carelessly shoved into and knocked over, and that simple little mistake was all it took for the entirety of Snowdrift to slowly catch ablaze. Holly and the other Krampi had all scrambled, all doing their best to fight the invaders, stop the fires, save their loved ones and fellow villagers, but the attack was overwhelming. Holly had been running through the streets almost blindly, trying to rescue anyone that he could, when he came across his mother. She was tending to another Krampi who'd been badly injured in the raid, trying to help them up and out of the burning village, but her efforts so far had been fruitless and the blaze was drawing closer. Holly tried to help her, but she shoved him away and told him only to run, save himself, get as far from Snowdrift as he could. She would handle things here. He opened his mouth to protest but his mothers' eyes were glowing as she chanted in a language he didn't understand, and the next thing he knew he was standing atop a cliff near the village, watching his home burn down in front of his very eyes. His heart was aching and for a moment he considered running down the hill and back into the fray, but he listened to his mother's demand - for all he knew, it might have been her dying wish. He turned and fled.
