Razor (on the right in the second pic), who belongs to me & was designed by BiohazardCarnivores on Etsy! Razor is NOT a character in this DTA. »— notes —« ♢ Press space/right arrow/etc! I felt bad for not doing a super-detailed background on my entry so I made two different drawings, one of which includes another character and the Affinity avatar I'd use for Retro if I win him. ♢ I did change Retro to an anthro character, just to fit better with the idea I have for him (plus... how would a feral cat game anyway, hyperintelligent or not? they don't have hands... handpaws... whatever), and I couldn't really tell if his eyes were supposed to be fully blue/pink or not so I kinda did my own thing with that too! »— bio —« ♢ name; Retho "Retro" Faaiz (the nickname came from a friend's inability to pronounce his name - people kept calling him Retro and eventually it just stuck), aka "RetroFire" on the Affinity. ♢ gender/pronouns; Cis male, he/him but doesn't mind anything else. ♢ species; Liger (lion/tiger hybrid). ♢ personality; Upbeat and outgoing, Retro loves making new friends and hanging out with people. He has a hard time paying attention to his surroundings, though, and can get out of control sometimes either being too loud or too jumpy. He tries his best to maintain a positive outlook despite his overbearing personality, but he does have his days where all he wants is to be left alone. ♢ likes; His friends but especially Razor (his BFF), parties/concerts, music (mainly techno/alt rock but open to most genres), video games (he's best at combat & puzzle ones). ♢ dislikes; Bugs (bigtime arachnophobia and even if something doesn't look at all like a spider, he's convinced it is one), bullies/rude comments/discrimination/etc, seeing his friends sad and not knowing how to help, water/rain/oceans/etc (not afraid of it, just really doesn't like it when his fur's wet). ♢ aesthetic; Pink/blue, neon signs and arcade games, vaporwave/retro(... of course). ♢ backstory; Retro's family left their homeworld and travelled to Ekhaenor when he was very young. Growing up, he faced lots of confusion and alienation from his peers for his differences - he wasn't from where they were from, he was a mix of two kinds of creature, he was just... weird. He learned early on that people looked at you kinda funny for things you didn't have a choice in, and grew up with a strong desire to change that. College was a godsend for Retro - nobody cared who you were or where you were from in college. Everybody was already too concerned with student loans to care about their peers. The dorms, though, he was not looking forward to - what if he had to live with someone who hated his guts for the entirety of college? He'd already dealt with it enough throughout the rest of his life. Many long nights were spent looking for the perfect apartment to stay in so he wouldn't have to live on-campus, until finally, he found one. It was already lived in by someone, but only big enough for two people, so that was just one person to learn to cope with instead of however many more... And that person, as luck would have it, was Razor. He wasn't all too keen on having a roommate at first, much less one as... eccentric as Retro, but he needed someone to help pay the rent. The first week went by with minimal talking to each other but before too long had passed, Retro found a way to break the ice - their shared love of video games. Retro hadn't really been allowed to play video games as a kid save for a few classics that his parents deemed okay, but Razor had practically grown up on all the latest releases from the big brands. Talks about different experiences and playstyles turned into talks about life stories and everyday things, and before they knew it, they were friends. As a birthday surprise, Razor introduced Retro to something that changed his life - the Affinity, a near-infinite pocket dimension open to all Ekhaenoric citizens, which functioned all-too-similarly to a video game. The two of them spent many a night playing and honing their skills instead of studying, and eventually managed to become quite the fearsome and well-known team, known as RetroRazor. They have both finished college with above-average grades despite their less-than-ideal studying habits, and continue to live & work together, albeit in a different (but much roomier & better-suited) apartment, and play various different games on the Affinity for a living. It's a dream come true for Retro - living and working with his closest friend, playing video games as a job, and using his fame to speak up against the discrimination that had haunted him as a child. He's proud, and he hopes everyone who talked down to him can see where he is now.
