Basically due to his demon form, he has acid that can be used as a weapon (hence why his tail when it melts is deadly) the acid stages come in different colours, blue will injure you but not kill you, purple/dark blue will severely harm you and has a chance of killing you and black has a high chance of killing you. It all depends on the demon type aswell Q:..... Demon type? A: I'll explain another time, for now different demons have different strengths and abilities. Soul is a HeartEater, the acid is used to make the hosts or victims body paralysed or stop working, these demons try their best not to kill the host, otherwise it takes years to find a new one. Thus most hosts are children or adolescents due to curiosity. Q: I didn't understand that, can you put it simply? Before That Day happened, for Harus birthday Kiko wanted Haru to get his tounge pierced since he didn't want to do it himself, since he was too young. Haru agreed and they went to get it done. When it was done, Kiko was pretty amazed and really liked it, Haru just sighed. Later on when Kiko left he wrote a note that had a earing in it, the earing was sustainable to acid, since he did research and found out what Haru was.
