Hello! I'm double posting and VERY late but at any black scratchers,, feel free to participate in a Scratch version of #drawingwhileblack ! It's a trend on other social media that means to support black people because often times, due to racism and such, we get little representation in media (especially the arts) that doesn't fall into harmful stereotypes. so uhh 1) post a compilation of your art/whatever else you do 2) in the description write about what being black means to you and how it affects your life and your content 3) add the tag and support anyone else there [DISCLAIMER] For those of you who aren't black but want to do something like this: Nothing's stopping you from making your own tag- feel free to make solidarity tags for being Latino, Asian, gay, trans, or whatever! This tag simply exists for black scratchers to find each other, because in the fields of art and technology, we have little to no representation and it'd be nice to find each other and have proof that we actually exist in online spaces. Thank you for your time. kkdkds it'll be weird if I'm the only one but thanks for liking my last post!! I think this would be a neat support chain
The audio still isn't mine it's from a movie but said movie is R rated and I don't want to put it here :) art is all by me but uuuuuu (ESSAY BELOW) Being black is a large contributor to the work I make and how I see the world. When I was growing up, there weren't many shows out there with characters that looked like me, and as a result, I didn't really feel like I belonged anywhere. At my school, I was one of two kids with my skin tone and the only one with my hair, and it did lead to some rude comments. When I draw characters that look like me it makes me really happy and fulfills something I felt I lost when I was a kid, and I hope that other kids see my work and feel represented. Black history month means a lot to me because it's the one month during the year where people start talking about these issues and ways to solve them, and it's nice to see us get appreciated when historically speaking we haven't always been.
