»— credits —« song » ❝Everybody Wants to Rule the World❞ by Lorde art/design » original design by @mstache21, dtaes by @hold-onto-anything »— notes —« ♢ Press space/right arrow/etc, I made multiple entries. The second one is a sketch page I did as warmup for the main piece and it's got a few coloured sketches on it, nothing too big though. Originally I wanted to do multiple scene pieces but due to a motivation crash, this was all I was able to complete. »— bio —« ♢ name; Lykofos (meaning "twilight" in Greek) aka Lyko. ♢ gender/pronouns; Agender, goes by any pronouns. ♢ species; Gryphon, sort of (more on that later). ♢ personality; Judgemental, standoffish, reserved but quick to anger. Typically thinks very highly of themself and thinks most beings are below them since they were created "as close to perfect as possible, not born an array of mistakes". They do have a heart, it's just that their vanity often blinds them to it. ♢ likes; Storms, cloudy/rainy weather, being outdoors, themself. ♢ dislikes; Sweltering heat or sunny days, cramped/crowded spaces, the ocean. ♢ aesthetic; Black/gold/silver, lightning and clouds, emo/goth. ♢ backstory; Originally, Lykofos was created with one sole purpose - to protect their creator. They were carved from stone and brought to life by a rather eccentric wizard who lived in an magic tower on the east coast of a land called Thauma, which was filled with spellcasters and mystical beings. The wizard was old and frail and no longer quick enough with his spells to defend himself from the many enemies he'd made in his lifetime, so he made Lykofos to guard him. They lived together in the tower for many years and Lyko was the best protector anyone could ask for, facing down any threat that approached and always conquering it. But even a magical gargoyle cannot fight off death itself. The wizard had lived his best life, and died peacefully of old age. With his last breath, he disguised the tower as a lighthouse and gave Lykofos free will, so they could go where they wanted after his death. But Lyko, refusing to accept the loss of their closest friend, stayed in the tower. They took care of it for years and years, going outside only to find food or water when they needed it, and became blind to the rest of the world. They had no way of knowing of the decree that had been made in the town where they lived - that magic had been banned. The wizard's magic was the only thing keeping Lykofos from reverting into stone, and once magic was stripped away, Lyko went dormant for many years. The tower and everything in it sat there collecting dust. Until a girl named Kaia Marin moved to town with her family. They knew the law, knew that magic wasn't allowed, but didn't worry too much about it as none of them could cast spells anyway. They thought. Kaia, adventurous and reckless, snuck into the tower one day and without even realizing it, reactivated the wizard's long-dormant spells. Her lucky charm, a four-leaf clover, had been channeling all her magic and storing it for later use, though she'd never even realized. Once she set foot in the tower, the clover unleashed her magic and reawakened the tower... and Lykofos. Snappy and distrustful after years of being trapped in stone, Lyko was unkind at first... but grateful that they'd been saved. They made a vow to Kaia, promising that they would be her protector from now on, as they had nothing else to do anyway. Kaia and Lykofos have since reclaimed the tower and restored it to its former glory, on the inside at least, avoiding the "no magic" law as best that they could. Magic was banned unfairly, but somehow they've still retained theirs... so they're going to do their best to bring it back for everyone else. (There is a bit more info about Thauma & Kaia inside the project, in a comment on the backdrop code, since I wanted to write something more detailed.)
