Hi! Happy Pi Day 2020! CONTROLS: Arrow keys or space to move through the slides --------------------------------------------------------------- I just made this quick project to celebrate Pi Day, which is March 14. Sorry if you can't read my handwriting, it's hard to do on a computer! Here's a transcript of the slides if you can't: --------------------------------------------------------------- Happy π Day! (side: 3.141592653... Arrow keys to progress) --------------------------------------------------------------- MARCH 14 is pi day across the globe. That's because the decimal expansion of pi is {3.14}1592653... --------------------------------------------------------------- ...BUT DID YOU KNOW? March 14 happens to also be Einstein's birthday... ...and the date Stephen Hawking died. --------------------------------------------------------------- BUT WHAT EXACTLY IS PI? (diagram: Also has to do w/ area) Pi is the constant of proportionality between a circle's diameter and circumference. --------------------------------------------------------------- ...IT'S ALSO IRRATIONAL That means it is a decimal that goes on forever with no pattern. (Above picture: Also a yummy dessert) --------------------------------------------------------------- PEOPLE HAVE BEEN using pi since Babylonian times. The first calculation of pi was done by Archimedes of Syracuse (212-289 B.C.) --------------------------------------------------------------- THE SYMBAL π was first used by William Jones in 1706. It was popularized by Leonhard Euler in 1737. --------------------------------------------------------------- MEMORIZING digits of pi is a popular sport among math enthusiasts. The current record is 70,000 by Rajveer Meena! --------------------------------------------------------------- HOPE YOU LEARNED SOMETHING! (Heart, star, follow, π.) ---------------------------------------------------------------
