It was a hot, sweltering kind of day when she realized her feelings for the boy had returned. There was nothing she could do about this, though, because school was out for three months. She yearned to cup his face in her hands and deliver a sock-knocking kiss to his lips. Her heart jumped as she imagined his look of desire he would give her afterwards. It was all for nothing. Her payers would not be answered, not today, at least. Her heart strained as she cut off the swooning, memories of the drama that had gone down in that school. She had dumped him after a week because he had texted her friend that he liked her. Oh, how I wasted those seven days! She cursed herself, toes curling in her hot socks. She peeled the cloth from her feet and tossed them into the clothes bucket. He liked her best friend. How could she get that nasty feeling in her gut once more, after everything? And yet, every night, his face appeared in her dreams. What a boy, what a lover he could be! Her mind exclaimed loudly. But what can I do? It’s Summer. She felt foolish for still liking him, after all the drama went down. Besides, he’s probably having fun with his new girlfriend. With that thought, her stomach threatened to explode. This was all so stupid. The fact that her best friend was with the love of her life right now felt so unfair.
