My daughter showed me this. It seems plants almost always place their next petal 360-(720/(1+sqrt(5)) degrees* from the previous one. The result is a Fibonacci number of spirals. See the video below to find out why *I've found a more general formula that gives the Lucas angle (~99.5) as well as the Fibonacci angle (137.5) depending on inputs.
