Ew I don't like a large chunk of this writing ewewew It took a good amount of Liam’s strength to force himself to run, looking around madly as he went into his house, his messily-sutured wounds threatening to worsen. Still, he paused and smiled-despite the screaming ache in his limbs-at the young boy that stood in front of him, watching him curiously. He couldn’t really help it-his little brother’s gaze was so...unknowing. He didn’t understand the conflicts and fights, but trusted that Liam would always come back. And, no matter what, Liam made a mental promise to Skilar, the small child that was now approaching him, that he would always come home. Always. Sitting on the couch with a heavy sigh, Liam sank into it, closing his eyes and folding his arms over his chest, exhaustion starting to take over. Despite almost being asleep, however, he still felt Skilar sit down next to him and hug him. Even though it hurt...a lot...he couldn’t let himself wince. He knew that it’d make Skilar nervous...Sky was so young...he didn’t deserve to grow up knowing that he may not make it all the way to adulthood with Liam nearby… Or that he himself may not make it to adulthood. This thought forced Liam’s eyes to snap open and he cautiously glanced over at his brother, who had begun to look at the cut on his face. “What happened?” Skilar asked innocently, gently grasping Liam’s face and tilting it so that he could see better. “Did you fall?” “...Sure…” Liam responded shakily, not really wanting to explain what had actually happened, knowing it’d scare Skilar. Before he could say anything else, Skilar jumped up, running into the kitchen with an odd gait, one that looked like it was rushed and slowed at the same time. He watched as Skilar clambered up onto a counter, pushing himself up with his small arms before standing. “Careful-” Liam quickly forced the words past his lips-it was almost automatic whenever Sky could get hurt in some way, shape, or form...he didn’t want that. Still, Sky seemed to pretty much ignore his warning and soon came back with a small box of band-aids in his grasp, soon sitting next to Liam. “Liam? You’re hurt-” He squeaked, opening the box and pulling out a bandaid. “I’ll fix it!” It was too late to protest. Liam felt Sky gingerly place a bandaid over the cut on his face, causing him to wince slightly. “There!” Sky grinned, the infectious happiness coming from him slowly making Liam grin too. “That’ll make it better!” Chuckling, Liam wrapped his arms around his brother. “Thanks…” Skilar giggled and hugged him back.
