So I wanted to do a kind of "draw this in your style" thing... and then when I came across the Icon Creator 4.0, I thought the default icon was perfect! @ipzy has such a recognizable style, so it was fun to try and draw it in my own style (which is very different.) Comment if you want to see more like this! Art process: --------------------------------------------------------------- SLIDE 1: FINISHED PRODUCT I didn't do the drawing on Scratch, so I couldn't get the exact colors. I think it turned out really well though! --------------------------------------------------------------- SLIDE TWO: FIRST ROUGH SKETCH Looking back... it's pretty bad. I like to sketch in a lighter color or non-photo-blue-ish color, so it doesn't look "final" I don't feel stressed about making it look good. I started off making her waving, but gave up on that. I wanted to keep her oval/round shaped face, and also the way her hair kind of bounces outwards. I tried to keep the big eyes with no highlights, and to make her look like a younger child. I also tried to make her kind of looking up up you like she seems to do in the original. --------------------------------------------------------------- SLIDE THREE: SECOND ROUGH DRAFT It improved a lot! She is no longer waving, and she looks a lot more dynamic. I made her face and improved basically everything. You'll notice the lines are super thiccccccc... that's because I tend to go over the same thing a lot when I have trouble getter it right. --------------------------------------------------------------- SLIDE FOUR: LINEART I am horrible at inking, so I usually just preserve the opacity and go over the sketch in black. Then erase unwanted parts of the drawing (also erase parts of the lines to make them thinner.) Don't take advice from me though, it's still the worst lineart I've ever seen. Her bangs and jaw look really weird in this one, but I fix that later. --------------------------------------------------------------- SLIDE FIVE: BASE COLORS Like I said, I couldn't figure out how to eyedrop the colors, so they aren't that good. --------------------------------------------------------------- FINISHED PRODUCT AGAIN! I added the blush! so cute! I added more to the hair texture also. I added a couple basic shadows and highlights (they don't look that good...) The original doesn't have that much shading, so I tried to keep it simple. I actually did another version where the highlights are colored and way overdone... I redid it though and now it looks good. -------------------------------------------------------------- Comment "apples" if you read this far! XD
Thanks to @ipzy for the original art. I did my art on MedibangPaint with a Wacom tablet+pen. #art #ipzy #drawthisinyourstyle #drawing
