Following the American tradition to put to tanks the names or surnames of generals of the civil war, this tank makes honor to the general Ulysses S. Grant. The idea of this tank came when the U.S. saw the fall of Europe, then they wanted to expand their armamentistic field with a powerful tank with a good armour and a
good cannon mixed with a very good speed so they made this tank, and, in fact this tank was really usefull in the north Africa campaign, which was superior to Rommel tanks. And an interesting fact of this tank is that was produced beetwen 1941-1942, in a single year, there were produced 4.724 units (the total units produced).
