They'd be made fun of by many other monsters for not being an actual monster, and being from the surface. One day, it got out of hand. A monster threw Goldie against a wall. Lily got really mad, and lunged at him. The fight got intense, but in the end, the monster won. He accidentally blew the death strike, killing Lily. It was only later that day, did Sans find out. Goldie was devastated, and couldn't separate herself from her. Lily was now a spirit. She could try to make herself visible to talk to her older sister, but Goldie merely ignored her and thought she was imagining things. That didn't stop Lily from trying.
