Aurora gazed at the beatiful beast. It was a horse and yet not. It's dark skin covered a skeleton like a thin blanket and it's draconic wings were almost horrifying. It was tall like a unicorn and yet so different. She pitied the being and walked forward, putting down her lantern. The dark stallion's blood glistened in the moonlight. It was as if she spent a fortnight in the Forbidden Forest tending to the Thestral's wounds, but it was merely a few hours before it nuzled her goodbye and limped into the dark. Trembling with happiness, fear, and shock, she picked up her lantern and pulled up her hood and began a long walk to the castle. By the time she got to her bed it was almost dawn. She put out the lantern, hid her cloak and went to bed. 'Where were you?' 'I thought you were at potions,' Such whispers echoed as Aurora strode past groups. They already knew she was a great troublemaker,as proven in Transfiguration. Professor Oekler had to usher her out and send her straight to Professor Heffwigs office after she set her matchbox on fire instead of turning it into a tissue box. Her punishment turned out to be more pleasant. She went straight outside after her last class for the day and entered the Forbidden Forest, hoping to see the Thestral again. The branches rustled as she got near the clearing in which they had met. She whirled around to the source of the sound. A mare Thestral. With the exact stallion she'd found yesterday! She sat down and watched hi court her. Aurora scribbled in her notebook. Her Care of Magical Creatures teacher, Professor Yukban, would be proud! The stallion turned to her suddenly and approached her. As the Thestral sniffed her, her hood fell off. He greeted her with a welcoming nuzzle and nudged his new mate towards her. The mare was cautious but eventually warmed up to Aurora enough that she could pet her with ease. She heard footsteps and pulled her cloak back up, grabbed her lantern and pointed the Thestrals into the bushes. The pair backed into the overgrowth and Aurora pulled out her wand, ready to attack. But it wasn't a threat - no, in fact, it was someone she knew.
