application have closed now and leaders have been chosen, as have most co leaders :) heyyy! here are the leader applications for our july session of swc. before i start a little faq, i would just like to thank @candylanguagegirl for creating swc and hosting the first two sessions, @theenderqueen for hosting the 3rd session, @eciipsed for hosting four sessions and @sunshine_the_rainbow for hosting the 8th and 10th (this one!) sessions with me :D this is going to be fuuuuuun! ~ faq ~ (please read all of it, even if you've been leader before) 1. what is swc? swc is a triannual virtual writing camp. it runs for the months of march, july and november, and you make a word goal for yourself, and try to reach that by the end of camp. there's also a competitive aspect with cabin points (there are 10 cabins- you'll be in one of them), and you can do activities such as word sprints or word crawls for points :) the camp goes from the 1st of july to the 31st of july and it's online so you can be there 5 minutes or 3 hours a day, at any time. 2. when is my (co) leader application due? 11:59pm est on may 16th. 3. when will you be choosing (co) leaders? on may 17th, sunny and i will decide, and one of us will notify all of the leaders sometime that day. they will be also posted on this project. co leaders will be chosen by the leaders, not us, between the 17th of may and the 1st of june. 4. how do co leaders work? each cabin (see below for a list of cabins!) needs one or two co leaders. as mentioned above, the cabin leaders will choose their co leaders, not sunny and i. if you're only interested in running for co, please mention that in your app. you are not allowed to advertise your application to the chosen leaders, and we will be monitoring this. 5. what are the differences between leader and co leader? leaders generally have more responsibility than the co leaders- they are more 'in charge' of the cabin, which could potentially mean making more decisions. all leaders are promoted in the main cabin, and expected to help add points there, whereas co leaders aren't. both co leaders and leaders generally add words in their cabin. 6. what are the cabin names? ~ mystery ~ science fiction (sci-fi) ~ contemporary ~ realistic fiction (real-fi) ~ horror ~ thriller ~ adventure ~ historical fiction (hi-fi) ~ fantasy ~ dystopian you don't have to write the genre of your cabin name! it's simply a name :) i will potentially be leading a cabin? not sure which one if i am, probably either sci-fi or dystopian because i want to complete my cabin bingo hehe 7. is there a backup cabin? no, it's the same as in november and march, we are trying to limit the number of cabins we have. 8. i've never been a leader and/or participated in swc before. will people who have get chosen over me? as mentioned in the project, we are choosing based solely on how good your application is, with the three main criteria of design, personality and answers. an average would potentially be around 4 inexperienced leaders with 6 experienced leaders. 9. when are camper signups out? june 1st! comment if you want to be notified for them. 10. why do i need to include my timezone? this is a very small factor in choosing leaders and co leaders, as we don't want all the leaders to be in the one timezone! that would make the adding of points and words more difficult. you can either say, for example aest (australian eastern standard time) or gmt+10. that's my timezone, for reference :) 11. how do you communicate with leaders and co leaders? we have a discussion forum. 12. how will i know if you and sunny have seen my application? both sunny and i are going to be loving all applications when we've seen them. we'll likely be going through at the end though, in case you've changed something! also, i get a notification whenever you remix, and we look at the remix tree, which is more accurate than just remixes. so there's no need to link it in the comments! 13. do you need judges for the writing competition, or sorters for camper sorting? no, they've already been decided. but thank you :P for any other questions, just ask them in the comments <3 thumbnail + background image: canva! music: no time to die by billie eilish good luck! i can't wait to see what y'all come up with :D
