The Spirit Ryuju is famous for its massive turbo lag and kick, something that has made it the single most prominent cause of UFO sightings in the entire world. But the Ryuju's high price of entry in the 90's (and even higher now) made it unobtanium to many car enthusiasts. The solution? Enter the Higan GT Turbo, a car that promised the fabled Ryuju experience for a price that could be fathomed by people who did not own their own private space stations. Naturally, it became a favourite with w̶a̶n̶n̶a̶b̶e̶ ̶h̶a̶s̶h̶i̶r̶i̶y̶a̶ young Japanese car enthusiasts, a fact that eventually raised insurance prices so high that it went under. But the Higan's rally and (professional) race victories, as well as its less organized ones, have earned it a well-deserved place in the fabric of Japanese car culture. So if you ever see those quad lights in your rear-view mirror, you'll know what'll happen: that guy's either having a real good time, or you're about to lose a race.
