Once, the world was covered with sunlight. But now, a blanket of darkness has come. Only the five remaining torches can bring light. Only the torches and the Glow. The Glow is now only possessed by one: C. In the platforming game Nightfall, players control a small rectangle named C. Each stage consist of multiple walls, platforms, and sometimes pits which the player must guide C past, across, and over to reach the key and proceed to the next level. However, the player soon discovers that this simple task is not so straightforward. Each level is completely pitch black, aside from the light of five torches. The player must use the light of these torches to learn the layout of each level. Unfortunately, much of each level remains in shadows despite the aid of the torches. This is where the Glow comes into the game. By pressing the space bar, players can emit a light from C to help illuminate each level. However, the Glow will not last infinitely; players must wisely use the Glow to ensure that it will last through the entire level before fading away. Occasional “curve balls” are tossed into the game to keep the gameplay interesting, such as not being able to use the Glow or playing in a level void of torches. The player can restart a level by pressing the “r” key, thus returning C to his starting position and fully recharging C’s Glow. Should a player become frustrated with a level or desire to skip it for any other reason, the “n” key can be used to bypass a level. However, the game’s boss cannot be skipped. Overall, Nightfall provides a unique gameplay experience which will challenge players’ platforming skills and strategic thinking as they guide C across each landscape, using the Glow as wisely as possible.
I highly encourage only using N if you need to get through a level you already beat (such as if you played the game to level 5, had to stop to do homework, and use N to get back to level 5 when you play the game again). All levels are possible! Tips & Tricks: If you happen to get stuck in the ground, just jump a couple of times. For the boss, the platforms in his stomach will not carry you up on their own; you need to continually jump while on a platform. Don't be afraid to use a lot of Glow early on; that way you have a clear idea of what the level is like so you'll need to use less Glow the next time.
