Bio time!! ----------------------------------------------------------------- Luke, his sister Maya, and his best friend, Kino were playing in the sand dunes of the beach on a hot summers day. They all decided to go down to the beach they recently discovered on a walk together, to see if it was a nice place to swim. They had came down hours ago, and their parents were starting to worry, so Luke told Maya to run back to their house, 2km away to tell them they were all fine and that they would be back soon. Maya was the oldest, Luke the youngest, so Maya told Kino to watch out for Luke, as he was always getting into trouble. Kino was a bit embarrass that he had to "Look after" Luke, as if he was a kitten, not his friend. He blushed a small bit a squeaked out, "ᵒᵏᵃʸ ᵗʰᵉⁿ". Luke asked Kino what they should do next. "Uh I don't know, swimming?" replied Kino. "Ughh we've been swimming all day!" moaned Luke. "Sorry Luke, I just think it's what a responsible parent would do" he said in a mock posh accent. They made eye contact and started laughing so hard, it brought salty tears to their eyes. "Oh fine, let's go swimming!" exclaimed Luke. "Race you down there!" screamed Kino. Jokes on him, Luke is one of the fastest cats around. Luke instantly set off, sprinting on all fours, running into the crashing waves. Kino hadn't even moved yet by the time Luke was in the water. Luke was laughing so hard, he was taking in water. He tried to stop for breath, but water kept filling his lungs. He started to panic, failing around uselessly, there was no use. He was going to drown. He knew what was happening, yet it didn't seem real. It was if he had already left his body, he was nothing but a celestial being now, watching his own fate. He was sinking deeper and deeper, not trying to escape the death he was bound for, but encouraging it, nourishing it. He wanted to die here, like this. After all, how better could a death be? No. No I don't want to die, what am I saying? He screamed silently to himself. He opened his eyes just as it hit him in the back. Light. Artificial, not from the sky, but from a lamp. Why are there lamps underwater? He thought. Noise. Someone is talking. Why? Words don't matter when you're experiencing this amount of pain. Luke had blood running down his back, traveling as fast as he had run down to the shore some time ago. How long ago was that? He couldn't remember anything, other than seeing a beast, right before he passed out. It was horrifying. It had the body of a massive crab, but the eyes, the eyes were awful. They were his mothers. Looking into them put him in a false sense of reassurance. Lured you in, so you couldn't look away while it attacked. They usually didn't go near people, they preferred the darkness of the deep reef. The beach the three friends had been on was it's home. No-one was on the beach, because there were old myths, myths stating that a horrible monster would come up to the shore during the evening, feasting on unlucky children that lay on his beach. It was partially true, partially false. It never ate the children, he just frighted them, and cursed them to silence with his dark powers. Those who couldn't be silenced were taken to a deserted island, with all the resources they needed to survive while the beast tried to find somwhere to bring them, where they would start a new life.
