(It said the description was too long, so I had to split it onto Notes and Credits, don't worry all the people that are in the book were still given credit to!) Chapter 10 Nevada’s breath sped up, and she sat on a log, “What?” She demanded in a whisper. Violet nodded vigorously and slumped down onto a tree, resuming the rocking position. I was clutching my nose so tightly, I didn’t realize that it was in a crooked pattern. Jeremy examined it and deemed it to be likely broken. I sighed and sat on my own tree. We all heard rustling and anyone who had a weapon gripped it tightly. We all backed up into a stream, and when Oliver fell into it, he let out a small yelp, quickly muffled by Nevada shoving her hand over his mouth to silence him. He got up, huffed a breath, and continued backing up, bumping into a rock. I grabbed him by the shirt and threw him in front of the group, “You stay up here,” I said through clenched teeth. A man appeared out of the foliage, he seemed on the older side of life, but not quite elderly. Nevada’s pupils contracted in fear, and her breathing sped up a little bit. She got to the back of the group, “If we have to kill him, it’s not me,” She whispered. A man came out and stood alongside the person Nevada knew. He had Jeremy’s colored hair and eyes. Jeremy was having the same side effects as Nevada was having. Oliver’s most likely mom came out, and the disease went on to him. It was only Shadow, me and Violet who weren’t with our loved ones. I heard a small yipping, and a small happy dog emerged. Violet fell onto her knees and extended her arms out to the dog and he immediately fell into her arms. “It’s really you,” She whispered. Nevada looked at Violet and said in her calmest tone she could muster with all the fear and anger pulsing through her veins and said, “I’m really sorry Violet, it’s not.” Violet shook her head, and said, “The robot-dog had a metallic bark, and the eyes were a shade lighter than Oliver’s, my precious little dog.” Jeremy stood up, “They could’ve easily changed those in these past two days!” Violet put her dog to the ground, and said, “Speak.” The dog stood up on its hind legs, and let out two barks that strangely resembled, Ol-ver, which obviously meant Oliver. Jeremy backed down and sighed, “A’ight, but if I have to kill him, I won’t blink an eye before I do.” Violet had seemed to regain most of her dead self, and stood up, grimacing at the small, silver-haired boy, my brother. “Dej?” He said, calling me by my nick-name. Violet walked up to me, put her shaking hands on my shoulders, and looked me dead in the eye. She spoke with her calm voice that she had when she first met me, “They programmed him to say that, okay? He’s not your brother, and I don’t know why they targeted the worst on you but-” All the robots had started walking to the person they knew, except Shadow. He had no one. Everyone seemed rigid or frozen in fear, but when one of the robots uttered their name, they all broke the wall of protection and walked up to them. “Okay then, it’s not all targeted towards you,” Violet said. I looked at Carter, his large innocent eyes, bloodshot with worry. His hands were shaking. “That’s really… you,” I got out, before I raced to him, kneeling down to hug him. He seemed rigid, but he hugged me back. “What have they done to you?” He demanded. I drew back, “Done to me? They’ve done nothing to me! You on the other hand, who’re you with?” That’s when 7 other bodies emerged out of the foliage. Nevada let out a scream, and I turned to her. The person she was hugging had disintegrated, and everyone else’s loved one, except Violet and mine, followed quickly. I looked at the 7 others, all of them had a name tag, Kylie Summers had failed to sell Oliver a dog. Gabrielle Gatesman had sold potions to Oliver which we lost in the metal room. Drew Qing had been with Robo-Carter. A boy named Alex had brown hair and blue eyes. Chris Jennings had dyed lighted blue hair which was in a disastrous mess all over his forehead. A girl named Caitlyn Turner was very tall and had caramel-colored skin and dark curly hair and light brown eyes. And a tall girl had the name of Lily Thornbird had shoulder-length black hair, bright green eyes freckles on her nose, and was very tall, her glasses just made her look smarter. I gripped my sword, along with Shadow and Violet. “What do you want?” Violet demanded. Lily came up, “We… we’ve come to help!” Chris yelled, “And I’m comin’ whether you like it or… not,” He had started strong but had slowed down to a weak, shy voice. “Heh, yeah, I believe that,” Shadow mumbled. Chris scowled. Oliver looked at the group that had just materialized in front of us. “Do. Not. Trust these… robots,” I spat out, his voice full of spite, “I ended up losing the one thing I loved because they’re so accurate!”
Violet walked up to him, stood inches away from his face, and slapped him, “That’s what will happen if… if… if you don’t just be so safe and unwilling to take risks! Afraid of water? First off, why? And second off, conquer it!” Oliver was angry now, “Oh, that’s talk coming from a girl who lost her bearings and gave up on life because of a dog!” We all watched them fight, amused. Violet was clenching her fists, “I lost my parents much later than you did! I’m still broken because they’re gone! My dog was only part of them I still had!” “Very nice, and I bet this…” Oliver was struggling to find something that belonged to his parents, “Well guess what, I have nothing!” “Then you don’t know what it feels like!” Violet said, turned, and looked at the others. She heard her dog growl, and a look of concern crossed her face. The dog ran up to Lily Thornbird who screeched, “Chip! No! Get off him!” Violet rushed over, picking up her dog, “What happened?” She asked frantically. “Your dog got Chip!” She said shakily. “I am so sorry! Is he okay?” Lily looked over him, “Little bloody, nothing too bad.” Nevada started talking for the first time since the man disintegrated from her grasp, “‘Kay, let’s go!” I hoisted Carter on my shoulders, he was only a meager 10 compared to my age of 12 and seemed easy enough to carry. We all walked, but only got about 10 yards an hour. Nevada was so tired of this and said, “Okay, I can’t deal with this… there’s 14 of us…” She counted and then did some mental math, “Okay, I’m making Jeremy a leader. Jeremy, you take the boys… that’s7, right? Oliver, Shadow, Drew, Alex, Chris, Carter, you, Jeremy. That means I’ll take the 7 girls, Kylie, Violet, Deja, Gabrielle, Caitlyn, and Lily, and me.” We all quickly separated into the groups and split up, us girls going straight, and the boys going to the left.
