It's kind of like kit-to-deputy. I think you should play ALL the previous games, before you play THIS. Warrior cats: The game, was NOT main series, because it's too short, and all you can do is mentor an apprentice, but that's really it, you know. But you should acknowledge that game, because Dragonpaw, your apprentice, is important in later games.
