It launches like a rocket with a external fuel tank, which is jettisoned later, and 2 boosters. When in space, space shuttle uses thrusters and RCS to dock to space station and deliver crew, supplies, or additional upgrade module. -RCS thrusters are Reaction Control System thrusters. They shoot out streams of compressed gas, and that provides a weak thrust. Useful for precise docking manuevers. -A space shuttle also has a gyroscope, used to turn the ship. It consists of heavy disks that spin very fast to generate torgue*. That turns the space shuttle the oposite way. *torgue, also known as "turning effect" it is a physical force that turns things. The heavier and larger the spinning object, more torgue. It is measured in Nm, newton meters, a force applied perpendiculaty on a distance.
