Unstuck Day #10 - Create a project that uses a Scratch block you want to learn more about. I spent a lot of time tinkering with various projects for today's task. I started out with the goal of wanting to use the "Make a Block" and then decided I wanted more practice with y-velocity. This Platformer Practice project was a game that my son had walked me through step-by-step earlier this summer. At the time, I just copied the code he told me to add, but I didn't really understand it. So, for today, I set out to look for and learn from platformer tutorials that I found on YouTube. I tried to create my own game by following along, but I quickly got lost as the coding got complicated. I didn't want to just copy, I wanted to understand. So I then redirected my attention back to this game because it was a little simpler. I decided to break it down and try to really understand it. With the bit of knowledge I had gained from the YouTube tutorials and picking my sons' brain, I feel like I have a better understanding. But, I'm not yet at a place where I could recreate it, or teach it, off the top of my head. I'd need to be looking at instructions. Thank you to everyone participating in Unstuck 2020! I have learned so much from you all. And, a big thank you to my son for his patience and sharing his knowledge. :)
