MUST READ EVERYTHING BEFORE USING: TAKE NOTE THAT THE ENTER KEY IS REPLACED WITH THE <up arrow> KEY, BACKSPACE IS REPLACED WITH THE <left arrow> KEY. Type 'cd_c' at the start in case you are stuck. (To access the drive) Welcome to the Cyclone-One DOS, a command line, disk operating system! -type in 'help' to check available commands This is completely designed by me, I wouldn't say it's a complete MS DOS or CP /M replica, but it's quite similar. (some commands are made by me, and may not work on an actual MS DOS or CP /M) There are currently a few features missing, but those will be added soon, since I want to focus on the more basic functions. This is quite tedious to complete sometimes, and some of its planned features may require me a lot of time due to it's complexity, but I'm excited to see if it works. available directories: C drive, Main Files, CYCDOS (space bar is represented as an underscore symbol) Enter key is replaced with the Up Arrow key.
NOTE: Updates will now be slow due to school starting (for me) and the need to study for examinations. Doesn't mean that I will stop development on the operating system though! Just going to roll out updates much slower than before. CYCLONE-ONE DOS, COMMAND LINE OS, 2020. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Basically MS DOS, but redesigned by me. THE UPDATE LOGS: ___________________________________________ VER 0001: (May 26 2020) Cyclone ONE DOS releases as a development (insider) copy, not the final build. VER0002: (May 27 2020) added 'cd' functions into the OS, still in development. VER0003: (May 27 2020) removed the program running capability due to major, severe bug issues. VER0004: (May 28 2020) Revamped the 'cd' function, minor display changes for retro feel. VER0005: (May 28 2020) Revamped whole display for authenticity, minor bugs fixed. Will implement 'dir /w' and 'dir /[file type]' soon. VER0008: (June 1 2020) Officially added the 'dir' command, currently only working for some directories, will expand the C drive soon. 'cls' command has also been added, still in development phases. VER0009: (20th June 2020) Small display updates, including updating the background and making texts look much clearer. Added a backspace feature, press the <left arrow> key to backspace. Added a new feature where the screen would automatically clear itself when its completely covered with text. I probably will not develop a scrolling feature anytime soon, as it is extremely complicated and not feasible currently. Commands 'time' and 'date' are currently in testing phases right now, and will be released as a small patch update in VER0010. Update to be released on 21st June. VER0010: (23 June 2020)Update came in a little later than I've expected. Added commands 'date' and 'time'. Minor bug fixes, 'dir' function currently being revisited and possibly revamped due to complications. VER0011: (25 June 2020) Added various sound effects (keyboard and computer fan), more minor bug fixes. VER0011-1: (29 June 2020)Added the 'ver' command, shows the OS version. VER0011-3: (26 August 2020) Minor bug fixes, revamping a few systems, removed a feature from One DOS. This is a very minor update, will start regular updates once my finals are over (around October/November). VER0011-3-1: (28 August 2020) Nothing much, reworked one small detail, text engine being developed to be implemented into the program, link is here if you want to check out the progress made: VER0012-1: (6 September 2020) OH MY GOODNESS FINALLY: the debug update is here. We've got some good updates; they seem minor but I promise you these are major ones. I've finally debugged and revamped coding for the cd_display system to be more efficient and less confusing to understand. the "cls" command has also been HEAVILY REVAMPED, to mainly support the new cd_display system and to remove minor bugs. "ver" command has been fixed, I've seen some alignment issues and fixed them. cd_display system is STILL A WORK IN PROGRESS, DO TAKE NOTE, I'm VERY aware of the bugs and glitches in the code but that's just because the system is not finished yet. The text editor is still under heavy development, and I'll probably release it on VER0014. VER0013: (7 September 2020) Official release of the revamped cd_display system, with some bug fixes here and there and some tiny readjustments. Text editor still in development. CURRENTLY WORKING ON: - (HUGE UPDATE) Start-up animation now in development process. This start-up feature is currently only for appearance purposes only. Might add BIOS setup feature as well. -more 'dir' commands (such as, dir /w, dir /a, dir [FILE TYPE]) -expanding the C drive. -Will be testing the 'cls' command more. - adding/fixing more display features/issues. - May be adding the 'edit' command soon, not confirmed yet. -Might add floppy drives??? I don't know, we'll see.
