This was the earliest game mechanic I implemented, and I am ridiculously proud of it. Arrow keys to move. Hitting any edge loads a new area, where you can find more prey. Spacebar to enter hunt mode, which lets you see prey. Hold "H" while holding spacebar and touching prey to catch it. Hunger, Thirst, and Health variables now function. Hunger and Thirst deteriorate 1 every 20 seconds. Holding down spacebar and/or "h" by themselves, they deteriorate 2 every 20 seconds. The meters max out at 60. If the meters contain anything less than 60, the bars will not appear full. To eat, press "e" with a prey item selected while your cat is standing still- they may not be in Hunt mode or moving (cannot be simultaneously pressing arrow keys and "e"). To drink, press "d" while your cat is touching a water puddle. Your cat cannot be moving or in hunt mode while drinking. It takes 1/4 second to drink one unit. Your cat heals when it eats prey and already has full hunger. FUTURE EDITS: Adding backgrounds. The plain green is nice, but having a randomized selection would be better. Maybe adding other characters or coat options. Adding seasons. (Also thinking about adding a day/night cycle. Just haven't figured out how long I'm expecting that to be). Adding herbs (I have the costumes in place, I just don't have a use for them yet). Introduction & credits, maybe a tutorial? This game was inspired loosely by Warrior Cats: Untold Tales, which is a free-to-play game that sadly is not compatible with my chromebook. (That is to say, the mechanics are inspired by that game. Added den (which currently has no use, but now it exists at least). 5/31/20- added level up message, compass which locates the spawn area (thinking about adding a "den" at spawn and selected other locations) 5/30/20- complete overhaul of health, hunger, and thirst. Set maxes to 60 instead of 70 and cleaned up the coding. Added experience and leveling system, which currently 1. only goes to level 5 and 2. has no practical function. Fixed glitch which prevented birds from spawning. 5/29/20- slowed down deterioration of hunger/thirst. Sped up drink speed. 5/28/20- created and added basic background, sprites, and game mechanics. Took me maybe four hours.
