WASD to move around and navigate. O to talk to an NPC. You can hold O to speed up text. This was an attempt at making a good Mario game, but nothing much came out of it. When spawning in a Mega Mushroom is given to Mario, but after that you can explore the hub. The only pipe that leads to a functional world is the first one, but one star is accessible.
