☆ Here's my DTAE for Artinqq's amazing DTA! I also loved the little aviator puppy, but since I love galaxies and space themed things so much, I decided to go with this one. I tried out some new painting techniques/experimented with lighting and I'm really happy with how it turned out. I hope you like it <3 ☆ ☆ Name: Cosmo ☆ ☆ Backstory: (in progress) For most of his life, Cosmo was trapped in a sort of vegetative state inside the heart of a star whose mauve-ish light pulsed brightly with every beat of his heart. Legends say that this ethereal creature was formed thousands and thousands of years ago - before the beginning of time - and it was prophesied that he would someday emerge from his fiery cocoon. Over time, as the star aged and its hydrogen fuel slowly leaked away, Cosmo slept, curled into a loose ball, unaware and unafraid. Then, on one quiet September night, Cosmo's star reached a tipping point, and suddenly, the dark expanse of universe around it was shot through with beautiful, nebulous clouds of white and purple as the outer layers of the dying star shot into space. It was an incredible sight, but the sound of the explosion that should have been deafening was swallowed up in thick layers of dark matter. Cosmo's little refuge hovered for another instant in a blinding ball of light before shattering into a million tiny fragments. The creature hovered there for a moment, perfectly still. All was silent as he opened his eyes with a start and jerked upright, wings unfurled, his mauve pelt and wings sprinkled with stars and planets like a miniature universe. He appeared to be lit from within, a being of pure light, and his eyes gave off a warm, steady glow. No one had to tell him his name. It seemed to be imprinted inside him by design. He knew it instantly, certainly, and without question. The star-shaped crystal in Cosmo's scarf was the only thing that was salvageable from the explosion of his star, and, being made up of pure, compacted energy, it's the source of his powers. Cosmo is immortal by nature and uses his wings to fly, but with the help of the star's energy he can teleport anywhere across the universe and move any object with his mind. He also has special healing powers and can bring a being back from the brink of death, but each time he gives another creature life, some of his star crystal’s energy is drained. There have been no official sightings of Cosmo on Earth, but rumor has it that he developed a special friendship with a certain human who wove the crystal he possesses into a striped scarf for safekeeping. The keepsake is clearly very special to Cosmo, and to this day, he will not be seen without it wrapped securely around his neck. ☆
