Press play to begin. Also the cursor button and the timer button are upgrades. Timer, Cookies per second. Cursor, cookies per click. also on the top left it tells you how many upgrades you have. If you buy the cursor it increases the amount of money you have to spend for upgrades. If you click the timer it doesn't increase the money also above both upgrades is how much it costs.
