Black children matter. Black love matters. Black futures matter. #blacklivesmatter <3 If we work together and support one another, we can make a difference. <3 Black lives matter just as much as all others. Everyone should be treated equally, regardless of skin tone. It’s heartbreaking to witness the struggles that the Black community faces and though, as an Asian American, I will likely never truly understand these challenges, we should all take time to educate ourselves and do whatever we can to support the Black Lives Matter movement. Ways to Support the Movement: ‣ Educate yourself on the history of Black oppression and stay informed on current events ‣ Pay attention to the voices of the Black community around you and do what you can to help amplify them ‣ Speak up against racism and injustice ‣ Sign petitions, donate, attend peaceful protests, and do all that you can to spread awareness ‣ If you’re not facing racism, use your privilege to help support those who are Why it is Inappropriate to Say ‘All Lives Matter’: The purpose of the BLM movement is not to suggest that Black lives are more important than other lives, it is just to point out that Black lives are undervalued. For those who have trouble understanding, saying ‘All Lives Matter’ is analogous to hosing down two houses at the same time when one is on fire, instead of focusing all attention to douse out the flames.
