uh minor intensity warning, if that's what you'd call it? idk-danger/scare(?) warning ig “I’m gonna be okay, Sky-” Liam mumbled, his vision blurring as his words began to slur. Everything hurt, but he wasn’t going to let Skilar see that. “Oliver’s coming to pick us up and take us home.” “But John-he hurt you-” Skilar whispered back, his arms tightening around his brother. “He hurt you a lot-” “I know...but I’ll be fine-” Was the response, Liam’s body aching, scraped, and bruised, “It doesn’t even hurt that bad.” It did. It did hurt that bad. Liam was sore, and hardly even conscious… He just had to keep breathing, and stay awake...right? Was that all it would really take? Just that? Maybe so. Maybe he really was fine… As that thought sank into his mind, he felt everything go dark...it was a tangible sort of thing, almost like a falling sensation that he was completely helpless against-but why fight it? It was...it was rest. It was a calm moment in a storm of fear and anger. Even so, what if he never left it? What if he sank too deep into the darkness that was swirling around him, threatening to swallow him whole? What...what if it wasn’t a threatening motion. What if it was a calm thing, warmly inviting him closer. Closer to rest. Closer to being beyond anything that had been felt before...something that couldn’t even be described… A rough bump in the road was what woke Liam up-Oliver couldn’t let him be home without knowing that he was awake and alright… “You’re up?” Oliver asked, his voice almost too loud for Liam, making him want to curl up and cover his ears in pain. “Yes-” Was the eventual response, drained of energy and almost soundless as Liam pushed himself into a sitting position and glanced over at Skilar, who seemed almost asleep as he sat there in the now dark van, only street lights illuminating his face and hardly open eyes. “...How long have you been driving?” “A couple hours-long enough for you to wake up, at least.” Oliver seemed rather calm, staring straight ahead as he drove, but he did eventually glance back and Liam for a moment. “Do you think you’re ready to get home?” “Yeah-and I think Sky would be safer with me after what happened with John.” “Are you sure?” “Yes.” No, he wasn’t. He wasn’t sure at all, but he was too scared to let anything bad happen to him when he could help it. “Goodnight, Sky-” Liam whispered as he gently tucked his brother into the one bed in his shack of a house-Liam was just going to sleep on the couch, where he could easily hear and see everything going on around him...he had to stay awake. He couldn’t risk willingly closing his eyes for a single moment after John had attacked earlier that day...but as the night went on...it became harder...and harder...for him...to stay...awake… Lying on the couch, asleep from exhaustion, Liam couldn’t force himself to wake up at the footsteps on the porch… Or the creak of the door. It was only at a dangerously familiar clicking sound that he could make his eyes open and sit up.
