Explanation of the scene- So, the words are describing Val. All of her former friends are yelling these terms at her, and she kind of deserves it. She black-mailed, hurt, lied, and was mean to all of them. She let Niko, get sent to a prison of flames. She lied to Lynn, for years. She was mean and harsh to Kegan. And she was rude to Clarence. This scene, is when she is trying to change sides in a war, but her former friends don’t want her to join. Scene from the story in Val’s perspective- Val, padded slowly into the camp of The Ashen, her head was down low as she followed Leo and Riley. All of the creatures turned to gaze at the three, as they entered the camp. Quail, stood up narrowing her eyes,” Hmm.” Val, pinned her ears back, feeling all eyes on them as she cleared her throat,” Erm, hello...”. Quail swished her tail,” What brings you three, here?”. Riley flicked his ear,” We wish to join The Ashen.”. There were scoffs and angry growls, from all around the camp. “And why should we let you join us? All three of you have committed horrible acts, against my friends.” Quail said coldly, her gaze just as icy as her voice. Her gaze made Val want to shrink right into the ground and disappear forever. But that obviously wasn’t an option. “P-please, we have nowhere else to go. We know what we did was wrong. We come asking for your forgiveness.” Val said, her voice sounded small and foreign. Quail considered the option, tilting her head. Niko, pushed forward and growled,” You can’t be seriously considering this, Quail! We can’t trust them!” They lashed their tail and Clarence stepped up next to them,” Yeah, how do we know that they aren’t lying. Also, are you forgetting what they’ve done to all of us? What they represent?”. Quail looked back at three,” Hmm, it appears that my friends do not wish for you to join.”. Val felt a tear slip down her cheek,” Please,” she said her voice barely a whisper,” we beg for your mercy. We have nowhere to go. We know what we did was horrible and we’ll take whatever punishment you see fit for us, but let us join. I’m begging you.” She said lowering her head. Leo and Riley nodded in agreement and Quail’s gaze softened. “Hmm, I never thought I’d see the mighty Val, begging. You seem to be telling the truth from what I can tell. You may stay with us for now, until we see who you three really are.” Val looked up gratefully,” Th-thank you, Quail.”. Quail nodded and the creatures started to go back to what they were doing before, but some just glared at the three.
