Hi! I just want to spread some information and education on why saying "all lives matter" during the black lives matter movement sucks! I do not mean to upset or offend anybody through this project, I will make that clear now- I just want to help educate people who don't understand what exactly you are implying when you say this. To start off, I know I've been very quiet on this whole ordeal here and I'm sorry for that, I care about it very very much. But I'll say it now so everyone knows- I support this movement wholeheartedly! So why exactly does "all lives matter" suck? When saying it in a "nice" way, your probably saying it with the thought process of "oh! everyone is equal, everybody matters equally :D" and well uhhh In reality, when you say "all lives matter", your erasing the struggle of those who are black and taking away the metaphorical spotlight for them. Of COURSE all lives matter!!! That's obvious! everybody matters! but the problem is, right now we NEED to focus on peacefully protesting and erasing the systemic injustice people of color face every day. when you say "all lives matter", it feels like your trying to invalidate their struggle and instead turn the spotlight off. A lot of white people, especially those who are racist, will say this because they're uncomfortable with the idea of somebody other than themselves being focused on. That's just the ugly truth. I mean really!!! And you may be wondering, "well BLM implies that only black lives matter!" And yeah, fair point! But it doesn't. The reason these people are speaking up and saying this is because it NEEDS to be heard. for centuries, people of color have been oppressed, enslaved, and cast aside. history has been whitewashed- you ever notice how the only black person they talk about in history is Martin Luther King? So yeah that's my take on it. There's much more I can say but knowing the human race I'll probably be reported and blocked for this :| Also I'm gonna say again that I'm not trying to be rude, I'm simply emphasizing the fact that this is a huge problem, and I know many people in this community are young, and everybody needs to be educated on this.
