This Is my 'Spirited Arts' competition entry for my school work. I have chosen to use Scratch as it is the software I find easiest to animate on. You might have to click the green flag a few times to get the correct sync. This project showcases many of the issues going on in today's world. There are so many tragedies going on in today's world and this project is saying, 'where is God in all of this madness?'. I have chosen 'Where is God' as my theme because I have been doing a lot of serious thinking and I constantly end up asking myself, "If God is so powerful and just, why is all of this still going on?". I'm not saying that as to offend or to question God's authority but to enquire as to why all of this is going on if God can end it all at the click of His fingers. In the animation, there are many things going on. The pride flag being torn in half in the beginning is to represent that people of different sexuality or those who don't feel drawn to any particular gender are having their rights stripped from them. I included this because I feel it is unreasonable, no, insane for people to be persecuted or segregated because of their sexuality or who they are. The black person looking at their hands represents people of colour or of a different race questioning themselves. Questioning themselves because even though they are the same as every other person internally ( in terms of organs thoughts and feelings), they are being treated as though they are a lesser being. I am black by nature, although my lighter skin tone hints otherwise, I am often labelled as mixed race and therefore I don't experience as much racism. I was once discriminated against because of who I am racially and that was a wake up call for me. I realised that life wasn't fair and because of where I come from and what I look like, it might never be. This is unacceptable and no matter what any person has done to you, that's no reason to discriminate. This is the reason I have chosen to put that in my Animation. After this, there is a person failing to conform to society's elected gender roles and being discriminated against because of that. They are called names and are having abuse shouted at them. They are labelled as an outcast and are left in a No-Man's-Land of abuse and discrimination. This is not only a reflection of society failing to accept people for who they are based on their lack of gender but also a reflection of the abuse people suffer when they decide to transition from one gender to another because it makes them feel more comfortable. Behaviour like this disgusts me in ways words can not express. The car crash scene reflects the hundreds of people who are killed in road accidents as a result of the driver's carelessness or D.U.I. So many people are taken from us with such brutality. No matter who someone is or what they've done, no one deserves to die in such a way that leaves families shattered, hearts broken and lives destroyed. Another example of how unfair life is and another example of where God could have saved someone's life and kept families together. Car crash victims are often considered the casualties on the car crash itself but that isn't true. Along with the casualties, there are the people who they've met, those who the could've and those who they never will. Road accidents leave families, friends and acquaintances bereaved and in pain. A death isn't just a drop in the ocean, it's all of the ripples that it starts. I hope this animation has given you something to think about and consider. I hope that none of the themes were to upsetting.
