All by me The 240mm howitzer M1 cannon was the largest gun that the US Army ever put into service. the barrel was 9.8 inches and fired high-explosive projectiles weighing 360 lbs 14 miles. it went into service in 1943 and is still in service with the Taiwan Army. it was used in WWII, the Korean War, and the Second Taiwan Strait Crisis. it was built to replace the 240mm howitzer M1918 siege gun and was much more accurate, being able to knock out German heavy tanks from long distances.
