Press the green flag to watch! There's a bit of an "I Spy" element...what do you notice when the lights flicker?
I did a lot of free-association to get to today's project...first I thought about telegrams, and semaphores (Monty Python's Wuthering Heights, anyone?), and other ways of passing messages, like Ouija Boards...I think I just have spooky things on the brain. Then I knew that I wanted to try to draw my own sprites. For me, flickering lights in horror/thriller films always make me nervous! I was feeling inspired by all of the sonic projects I saw in Days 1-3 (shout to @tarmelop and @jsarchibald). The music ended up being a little complicated, involving a list for the pentatonic scale, a variable to vary the amount of time, and the random block to mix it up! I chose the pentatonic scale because I was thinking about how little I listen to the music of my ancestors, but recently I had the opportunity to be on Zoom with @lestalusan (on IG), who is an incredible Southeast Asian DJ, and Les played all of this beautiful music that isn't accessible on Spotify, etc...If I had more time I would program a specific melody or add more objects that might change. Again, I can't draw, but the How to Draw Almost Everything illustrated sourcebook by Chika Miyata has been enormously helpful for small doodles like these!
