Name: Sabishi (means lonely in Japanese) Species: Sea Dragon Gender: Female Sexuality: Straight Personality: shy, pacifist, lonely Likes: warm water, sunlight Dislikes: Sharks, cold water, hurting other creatures The Story (oh dear I wrote this on Notes, and I didn't realize how long this was. I'm sorry): It was a beautiful night in the middle of the Pacific Ocean. The moon was shining brightly in the clear sky, and stars twinkled brightly from the lack of light pollution that far out into the ocean. A family of dolphins leaped out of the water, their grey skin glistening in the moonlight. Pods of colorful fish slept in the teal waters. But Sabishi, a little baby sea dragon, couldn’t see it. Alone in the depths of the ocean, she was blind. She swam upwards, only knowing up and down by the warmth of the water. As she swam higher, the water became warmer, and she smiled happily. But knocking her out of her happy reverie, the ripples of a shark swimming met her scales. Without sight, she’d learned to figure out different ocean creatures by the ripples they made. Sabishi was very much aware of what a shark’s ripple felt like. She trembled, and sunk down deeper, where the sharks didn’t dare to go. The water was too cold for them, and besides, as they kept her under, any poor fish that was swimming at that level easily made a nice snack for them as they tormented Sabishi. Her scales were soft, and a great white’s jaws could easily sink into them. Although Sabishi was bigger than them, she hated confrontation, and worked to avoid it at all costs. She looked up, her milky blue eyes seeing nothing but darkness. Sabishi yearned to swim higher, to break free of the waves’ crests. But the sharks patrolled the middle of the waters, bullying her, threatening to ki// her. She couldn’t swim fast enough to outrace the whole pack of them (she’d tried before, and it only led to a shark nearly tearing off her tail), but she knew she could swim faster than the normal dolphin. Sabishi’s dream was to frolic the tops of the waves like the dolphins, swimming and splashing around, enjoying herself. But the sharks stopped her, leaving her with no choice but to stay down, breathing the cold water through her gills, never to feel the warm sun on her scales. She wailed in anguish to the bright moon above the waters, to the parents that had abandoned her because of her horrific mix of tail and claws, to the sharks destroying her dream, and to all the oblivious fish and creatures sleeping peacefully, not knowing her pain. She snapped her jaws closed as the ripples of sharks reached her, telling her that they were above her. Sabishi took one last glance at the dark blue sky, illuminated by the moon and stars, if only to feel the warmth of the water, not to actually see it, then dove down, down, down, down, to the bottom of the ocean trench she’d cowered in for her whole life, and most likely for the rest of it too. As the water around her became colder and colder, she thought hopelessly, “Maybe my scales will become hard enough to become immune to shark bites… Maybe….Just maybe…” Settling down next to a small crack in the earth that seemed to expose magma to the ocean, the closest she’d ever get to the feeling of warm water from the sunlight zone, she closed her eyes, still dreaming of the day she’d get to see the surface.
all my art, although I used some pics from google just to know what they looked like. But I drew all this, never traced or anything like that. @Icesnow11 made the DTA Music: The Wolf- SIAMES Program used: Clip Studio Paint EX NOTES: So yeah, i'm actually quite happy with this :) Sabishi was fun to draw, and I like her story. I do like her as a character, especially with her story, but if I don't get to keep her, that's totally fine. This was as much as a competition entry as a practice drawing, to practice my skills with drawing ocean scenes, and lighting and such. Hope you like it ^^ owo actual shading???? impossible...
