Lesson 2 ~ Handy Lesson [lol-] Starii ~ Hands are something all artists struggle with! And keeping them proportionate is even harder! In this lesson we’re gonna explore the magical world of hands! Reezie ~First thing we should note is that not all artists' styles keep hands proportionate! For example, Mickey Mouse has large hands, but nobody finds it out of the ordinary! It all depends on your style! The more cartoony you draw, the more you can bend the rules of proportions! Starri ~ Yup! But you have to keep in mind that no matter how big or small you draw hands, that they have their limits! I’ll give you a physical example! Try to make your thumb touch your pinky without moving the pinky..see? It’s out of the range of motion for your hand! Keep in mind that you can always use yourself as an example! Look into a mirror and see what the extent of your joint mobility is! Freezie ~ Speaking of joint mobility, thats the range of motion for your joints! For example most people cant put their art in a full circle like barbie dolls, unless you’re double jointed in your shoulder, then its impossible! Starri ~ Yeah! So your homework today is to draw a human with hands that follow the joint mobility! Freezie ~ They can be waving hello, posing, holding up a peace sign, do whatever as long as it follows the rules of joint mobility! Starri ~ If you need help or have any questions then let us know! Freezie ~ See ya later!
