HI @bleedheart TYSM FOR TRADING WITH ME (I loved drawing Tupleo last time, by the way! I'm glad to be working with you again! <3)! Anywho, I included some of the concepts, an abandoned bit of the project, and then the end result! For ✧・゚: *✧・゚:* dramatic effect ✧・゚: *✧・゚:* By the way, feel free to make any changes to the character you'd like! <3 1 & 2 - I had two concepts for this! The orange one was based off the gravesites and I took most of my inspiration from the candles. My second was based entirely off the picture beside it, and it gave me this idea of making the stripes look like (or be!) tiger bones. :P I didn't really favor either, so my plan was to kind of merge them, since they both had certain elements I liked. ANYWAY, I one of my weaknesses with this theme was definitely my love for dulled down versions of bright colors. I learned pretty quickly that I needed to use bright colors and I had a lot of trouble with that, oops,, 3 : And BAM attempt 1. =') This is what took me so long; something was just a little off- the colors were mostly dull, but those that popped (paint on the skulls??) seemed almost clashy :( Then, my tiger anatomy seemed really tight and statue-y to me. ;n; So I decided to go back to my concepts and build up again! Here's how it turned out! I wound up falling in absolute love with the theme and tigers and- and just everything. ;w; Even the cheek fluff-- after all the pain it gave me- 4 : I wanted to give this tiger a lot of little fancy details,; so I wound up making a 'casual' look, like they just sort of,,, put on a costume (l̶i̶k̶e̶ ̶a̶ ̶s̶u̶p̶e̶r̶h̶e̶r̶o̶!̶!̶)?? The only Dios De Los Muertos inspirations here is the bone stripes. I originally wanted to make a transition from orange the purple, in ode to the concepts, but then I just kind of gave up on that and made it an orange-y red, since that felt both tigery enough, and strangely close to a middle ground between the two colors. =') 5 : This is meant to be their other form! As much as I liked the appearance of the flowery purple headdress in the picture, I didn't like it in my art (just-- too many round flowers with too many sharp petals and different sizes,, ;n;) , and I also felt like the dark colors took away from the (surprising!) light-heartedness of the event. I decided to use some lively patterns on the skulls and colors for some smaller, simpler flowers to make the character look festive and a lil' wild. I hope you like it! <3 ANYWHO-- I had the time of my LIFE with this. As soon as I figured tigers out (which, was surprisingly enjoyable too, once I got started! =')) this was just-- yes. I loved it. I'm super excited to see what you've come up with! <3<3 Y'all, go give some love for me! <3<3<3 (also, just in case, would you mind if I posted this on my tumblr??)
