Hi everyone! I'm sorry this is really late, I've been super busy irl :/ Thais is Lesson #1 for Directed Drawing, a class in Doodle Academy! Today we will be focusing on scenes. Space to view the slide; click and drag to zoom. Commentary is below. vv 1. Draw a sketch! This should take you 5-10 minutes, depending on how detailed you make it. 2. Lower the opacity of the sketch and create a new layer for the lineart. 3. Draw in your lineart and hide your sketch! I use a 6.0 pen size for all my drawings. 4. Pull up a reference. For this drawing, I'll be using my vent OC, Penny (no, this is not a vent, I just wanted to draw her). Fill in the base colors; I fill in everything bit the eyes and mouth (if it's open) for this step. 5. Set the layer to alpha lock and add the color. This is pretty self-explanatory. 6. Remove alpha lock and fill in the other colors. 7. Hide all the layers and create a new one behind the others. Fill in the background base color. 8. Add the rest of the background colors (I changed them to be a bit darker) and show the rest of the layers. I added the fire on this step. 9. Change the blending mode/opacity of the fire. I used Add at 90% 10. Select the eye using the magic wand tool (I know it also selected the tears). 11. Using an alcohol brush, I filled the fire in the eye. At this step, I didn't like how the outer fire looked, so I used the same brush and redid it. Remove the magic wand selection. 12. Add highlights to the eyes using white and lower the opacity to 50% 13. Set the lineart to alpha lock and color it. I used a dark brown. 14. Add glow to the fire with an airbrush. 15. Use a watercolor brush and set it to clipping over the color layer. Outline the color with a light yellow. I set the blending mode/opacity to Lighter Color at 50% 16. Add the text. I used lyrics from Burn from Hamilton ;) 17. Add your watermark on a new layer and set it to 25%. In this case, I set it to 10% 18. Finished! Homework: Choose your favorite song (or a song you like) and make a scene based off of it. Select lyrics from it and add it to the scene, like I did.
