Monika Diamond was a 34 year old Black Trans Woman. She was a business woman and strived to make her corner of the world a better place for Queer people young and old.
Unfortunately many cases like Ms. Diamond's go unreported. I was shocked to find that 4 gender nonconforming / Trans individuals have already been killed this year, but the number is so much higher. She was put into an ambulance for experiencing shortness of breath before being shot multiple times. Her case is special since the murderer has been caught and is facing charges. She deserved more, and she was an honorable woman. I highly respect her, I just wish she had more recognition while she was alive. But much like Mr. Floyd, her death will help spark change for Colored and Queer lives.
