Water and fire. Ivy couldn’t win this duel with her power alone. “Ready...” “Set...” She held her breath, eyes focusing on the black-haired girl on the other side of the room. “FIGHT!” Clara immediately threw up her hands, sending a strong blast of water surging towards Ivy, who managed to jump out of the way just in time. Clara turned, keeping her hands up as she followed Ivy around the room with her water. Suddenly Ivy dropped to the ground, throwing out her hand. Bright orange flames jumped up at Clara’s feet, making the tiny girl shriek and jump back, distracting her and making her stop shooting her water. Ivy didn’t waste a second, jumping to her feet and racing at the other girl, keeping her flames at Clara’s feet. Clara sent blasts of water at them again and again, only to have more jump up behind her, to her side, in front of her... Ivy grinned viciously as she raced towards her, her long hair dancing out behind her, catching the early morning sun and setting her in a golden glow. Behind the glass where the other students sat, Chase watched her every move, unable to breath. But suddenly, Clara looked up. Then, there was a blast of water, even stronger and bigger than before heading straight at her. —————————— Ivy sat down in her third period with a huff, her yellow tube top, short jean shorts, and hair still damp. She couldn’t believe it. Clara, /Clara/ of all people had beat her. Her hands curled into fists at her desk, and she cursed Power Practice being her first period. But now it was Strategy Class, her favorite. Mr. Jefferson came in, his yellow eyes scanning the room harshly. Ivy smirked, and class began. —————————— The door shut softly behind her as she began to make her way back to class. She had to leave to use the restroom, but now she didn’t want to miss any more than she had to, unlike many of the other ‘popular girls’. Cuz y’know, she was actually smart and cared about her grades. She turned the corner, only to stop in her tracks, eyes widening. Chase and Clara were walking, Clara holding his arm as if he belonged to her along with a book. They all froze before Chase cleared his throat. “U-Uhm, Clara... Can you give us a minute?” He asked, face red. Clara frowned but nodded, biting her lip and glancing at Chase longingly before hurrying away. Ivy felt a flash of satisfaction that he didn’t even watch her leave. All his attention was on her. But then he walked forward and she stepped back. They were too close, he was getting to close she couldn’t breath if he was too close. His footsteps faltered when she backed away, his face reddening. Ivy crossed her arms, glaring at him and trying to be intimidating as she remembered their fight just last Friday. They were getting closer-as friends, she tried to tell herself-but he always always /always/ took Clara’s word over hers and let her steal him away and touch him and practically- “Ivy, look.” The teen boy sighed, looking away and making his gray hair fall into his forest green eyes. Ivy bit her lip, her own face turning red. /D*mn./ But see, why did stuff as simple as his hair falling in his eyes make her blush? She could get with any guy she wanted... So why was he driving her so insane? “Clara... She-She’s been my friend since we were kids... I-I can’t just leave her..” “I’m not telling you to. I’m telling you that I don’t like it when you trust her word over mine, and when she touches you like you guys are dating or something.” He lifted his head. “Why do you care about that?” Ivy opened her mouth to reply but he shook his head. “Don’t-Don’t answer that... Ivy, I really like hanging out with you. You make me laugh, and-and I don’t want to keep on arguing with you. I just... I just wish you two got along.” He looked up, and Ivy snapped up her eyes from where they’d been looking at his lips, barely paying attention to what he was saying. “I-Ivy..?” She blushed madly. “Chase, I-I really like hanging out with you, too...” She took a deep breath. “And-And I don’t like her touching you how she does because... because it makes me wish I was her.” Chase’s eyes widened, but Ivy kept her gaze fixed firmly on the ground, her face heating. “I wish I was the one holding onto your arm, I wish I was the one holding your hand, I wish I was the one who’d known you all your life, I wish I was the one that you trusted... Chase, I.... You.... I don’t... You make me feel...” She just couldn’t find the right words. Looking up, she saw Chase staring into her eyes, his eyes round with wonder and mouth parted slightly. But /of course/ that’s all she was thinking of: his mouth his lips.. What was /wrong/ with her!?
She clenched her fists, cursing herself. But then before she could talk herself out of it, she leaned forward, kissing him. They were both still for a moment. No, frozen. Then, Ivy pulled back, her face burning as she tried to get away. What has she just /done/!? Why had she kissed him!? Why did she want to do it again..? “I gotta go.” She breathed, tears pricking the back of her eyes as she turned, hurrying away. Chase was frozen for a moment before he grinned stupidly, face red as he bounded after her. “Ivy!” He called, making her hurry up. “W-Wait!” “What!?” She finally snapped, whipping around to face him. Couldn’t he see that she was humiliated? Couldn’t he see that she was confused? Angry? That she hated him and loved him at the same time? That she wanted to be the one that he thought about every night? That she wanted to laugh with him and kiss him and hold him... Chase seemed frozen for a moment, his grin disappearing. But, he couldn’t keep it off his face for long and it soon returned as he pulled her to him, gently pressing his lips against hers. ...What? And then, Ivy felt something bloom in her chest. Something warm, something kind, something joyful, something hopeful, something comforting... Was it love, maybe? She didn’t know. All she knew is that she never wanted this moment to end. She wrapped her arms around his neck, feeling his heartbeat against her chest. She felt flames dancing through her veins and she knew his own plant magic was pulsing as well as she smiled against his lips. Blinking open her eyes she saw that Chase was grinning as well, both their faces beet red. Ivy giggled at the look on his face, their foreheads resting against each other. She could’ve sworn that even their heartbeats were in sync. “Will you go out with me?” Chase breathed, his eyes sparkling. “If you take me to the carnival.” He opened his mouth to say something, but Ivy got there first. “I’ll pay for food if you pay for tickets.” “I’ll pick you up at 5?” Ivy smirked. “Deal.” i wrote a kissing scene i wrote a kissing scene i wrote a kissing scene.... i wat? this shouldn’t be a big deal but it just um... it was a tiny bit uncomfortable XD buuuuuuuuttttt i think it’s fine, right??????? (don’t answer that)
